A Data Analyst plays a vital role in transforming raw data into strategic insights that help businesses make smarter decisions. They work with vast amounts of data collected from websites, apps, emails, and customer systems to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities.

What does the job of Data Analyst involve?

The main tasks of a Data Analyst

1) Controlling data quality: data analysts gather data from various sources, then sort it to ensure that only usable data is retained. They then structure the data and define specific management rules (automation, eliminating duplicates, etc.).

2) Produce usable analyses: this analyst then identifies correlations between the data and studies all aspects of the information present in order to extract tangible trends. These may be positive and interesting dynamics, or raised areas that indicate potential problems.

3) Creating reports: in order to share their analysis results, data analysts produce concrete reports. These present the information identified, the facts (figures, statistics, etc.) and the recommendations made. This document is then shared with the various players involved, in particular managers and employees.

What skills do you need to be a data analyst?

  • At ease with numbers: most data is presented in the form of figures and numbers. The data analyst must have a good understanding and management of these so as not to get lost when faced with large databases.
  • Mastery of data analysis tools: a number of technical skills are required, including programming (Python, R, etc.), handling SQL-based data and mastery of visualization tools such as Power Bi or Databricks.
  • Analytical mindset: to transform raw data into usable elements, data analysts need to have an analytical and synthesizing mindset.

What is the salary of a senior data analyst ?
A data analyst with more than 6 years’ experience earns an annual salary of around €50,000 gross. The variable component ranges from €2,000 to €6,000 gross per year, depending on the company. A senior data analyst may also be entitled to a thirteenth and fourteenth month’s salary.
