What does a CRM Manager do?

The CRM (Customer Relationship Management) manager is responsible for relationship marketing within a company. Their role? To increase customer satisfaction through a data-centric approach, closely linked to the use of a CRM tool (Salesforce, Pipedrive, HubSpot, Monday, etc.).

In concrete terms, their work is based on three pillars:

  • Enriching and exploiting a database to deepen customer knowledge;
  • Proposing marketing actions tailored to the profile of each customer or prospect;
  • Monitoring the results obtained using performance indicators (KPIs).

How to become a CRM manager?

It is possible to enter the profession with a three-year degree in marketing, business or data analysis.

However, recruiters greatly value candidates with a five-year degree. After completing a three-year bachelor’s degree, it is therefore strongly recommended to continue your studies with a master’s degree.

The main skills of a CRM Manager

1) Data management skills: faced with large amounts of data, figures and statistics, the CRM manager does not falter, quite the contrary. They are proficient in all database exploitation techniques, from segmentation to synthesis.

2) Marketing skills: marketing is an intrinsic part of their job. That is why they know marketing strategies inside out and know which techniques to use as a priority. They also stay abreast of new developments in the field.

3) Proficiency in digital tools: these managers are proficient in much more than just CRM dashboards. They are also comfortable with Excel spreadsheets, BI (Business Intelligence) software, project management tools and traffic analysis tools on e-commerce platforms.

What is the salary of a junior CRM manager?
The salary of a CRM manager at the start of their career is between €30,000 and €40,000 gross per year. Their monthly income is therefore between €2,500 and €3,300 gross, or €1,900 and €2,500 net per month.
A variable portion is also added to this fixed salary. This averages €2,000 per year, equivalent to performance bonuses or a 13th month’s salary.
The remuneration of a junior CRM manager also varies according to their qualifications. The quality of their training and experience (acquired through work-study programs, for example) enables them to apply for job opportunities with slightly higher salaries.

What is the salary of a senior CRM manager?
With more than five years of experience in the field, an experienced CRM manager earns between €45,000 and €65,000 gross per year, or €3,750 to €5,400 gross per month. Their net monthly salary is therefore between €2,900 and €4,200.
In addition, there are performance and target bonuses, as well as a 13th or 14th month’s salary averaging £6,000 per year.
A CRM manager with extensive experience and solid, varied skills, such as fluency in English, can negotiate their salary. They can also apply for positions with a high level of responsibility within large groups or international companies.
It should be noted that, as in other professions, the salaries of CRM managers in the Paris region are up to 20% higher than in other regions of France for the same position.
If they choose to move into consulting, their income depends on their fees and the size of their client portfolio.
