What does a Visual Merchandiser do?

A visual merchandiser is a specialist in merchandising, which is the art of optimizing the presentation of products in a point of sale in order to trigger more purchases.

In a shop, business, supermarket or boutique, some items always sell less well than others. The merchandiser’s role is to apply different presentation and layout techniques to increase the attractiveness of these products and avoid any loss for the company.

With the rise of online commerce, the profession has also adapted to the web with a new position: the e-merchandiser. The latter’s mission is to develop online sales for a company or e-commerce site. They analyze the user journey, the site’s UX/UI, the information highlighted, the visuals chosen and the copywriting. They also do not hesitate to implement cross-selling strategies to encourage additional purchases.
